Getting your website onto the search engines

I often get asked.... Generally about a week after the website has gone live.
"Why is my website not on Google?"

Unfortunately owning a website doesn't instantly get you listed on the search engines. There is a few things you need to do to get listed in the first place and then a lot more to actually get highly ranked pages.

1, You need to let the search engine know you exist.
2. Get rid of any duplicate content your website may have - Read more about this subject here
3. Submit a site map. One site map should be fine to use for all the search engines.
4. Make sure your Meta Tags are in place.
